Express Yourself! Show us your awesomeness! Is there a piece that you've recently created that will blow us away, make us think, help us understand the world around us? Surprise us!
Illustration – Use your artistic talent to give your visual representation to our theme. Your illustration may be in ink, colored or standard pencil, crayons, markers, charcoal or any other implements that are not dipped in paint or dye. Do not send your original work, but send us up to three (3) high-resolution photos in .jpg format of a single illustration, per entry. Register here!
Photography - All photos must be original work, taken by the entrant. No third party may own or control any materials in the photo, and the photo may not infringe upon the trademark, copyright, moral rights, intellectual rights, or rights of privacy of any entity or person. The photo must be in its original state and cannot be altered in any way, including, but not limited to removing, adding, reversing, or distorting subjects within the frame, which is best for our digital category. Photographs must be submitted in .jpg format, and no larger than 10 MB. One photo is one entry. You must complete a separate form for each photo submitted. You must be prepared to submit a signed media release for every person appearing in any of your photos. If your photos depict other people’s work, such as sculptures, statues, paintings, and other copyrightable material, you must be prepared to provide a release from the rights holder. Fine art: Sculpture, Oils, Watercolor, Acrylics – Pull out your favorite media and share your thoughts on our theme. After you create your best work, take photos of it from several focal points and submit up to three (3) high-resolution photos or a short video (30 seconds max)of your work. Performance – Submit your audio or video file of your performance, based on our theme. This may include dance, comedy, spoken word, singing, original music, monologue or a one-act production. Limit your performance to no more than three minutes per entry. Register Here!
Mixed media – Combine any media of your choice to express our theme through your eyes. After you create your best work, take photos of it from several focal points and submit up to three (3) high-resolution photos or a short video (30 seconds max) of your work. Domestic arts – Whether you sew, crochet, knit, weave, garden or employ an artistic touch to your cooking, we want to see photos of how you perceive our theme. After you create your best work, take photos of it from several focal points and submit up to three (3) high-resolution photos or a short video (30 seconds max) of your work. Woodwork – Do you whittle or use a chainsaw to create your art? If you build furniture, picture frames or cutting boards, bowls and pens, this is your category! Graphic Design – Create your best digital art to represent our theme. Your submission must be contained in a single file. Images should be submitted with a resolution of at least 300 dpi, or greater, and as a .jpeg, .jpg. or .pdf. Maximum size 10MB. We welcome submissions of unpublished social media posts, cartoons, comic strips, and posters, as well as alternative-format works that focus on the visual. We look for excellence in visual artistry, storytelling and characterization and are as interested in traditional forms as we are your innovation. We accept online submissions only. Register HERE.
Digitally altered photographs – This is the time to showcase your photo-manipulation skills. Send us your before and after photos. Limit one set per entry. Be sure your work tells a story about our theme. Files must be in .jpeg or .jpg format, no larger than 10MB and at least 300 dpi.Register HERE.
Short film – Five minutes maximum, including credits. Be sure to portray our theme. All genres are accepted, but PEACECORE/bUneke reserves the right to disqualify inappropriate subjects, at our discretion. You must be prepared to submit a signed photo release for every person used in any film you create. If your film depicts other people’s work, such as sculptures, statues, paintings, and other copyrightable material, be prepared to provide a release from the rights holder. Videos must be upload to your YouTube Channel or Vimeo and include your link in the submission form. Register HERE.
Music Video – Three minutes maximum, including credits. Create your own music video with original music and paint a story with visual imagery that depicts our theme. All genres of music are accepted, provided they do not include inappropriate material. You must be prepared to submit a signed photo release for every person used in any film you create. If your film depicts other people’s work, such as sculptures, statues, paintings, and other copyrightable material, be prepared to provide a release from the rights holder. Micro Movie – 90 seconds maximum, including credits. Make every second count when telling your story about our theme. All story forms and concepts accepted, provided they do not include inappropriate material. Be prepared to submit a signed photo release for every person used in any film you create. If your film depicts other people’s work, such as sculptures, statues, paintings, and other copyrightable material, you must be prepared to provide a release from the rights holder. Podcast – Four minute maximum. Create a short informative and entertaining audio recording that highlights our theme. These may be one-on-one Interviews, solo commentaries, panel discussions, fictional or non-fiction storytelling, or a combination of one or more of these styles. Submissions may include interviews, and copyright-free sound effects and/or music. Podcasts should be in .wav, .mp3 format or link on your podcast channel. 10MB limit. Follow the general guidelines below.
Micro fiction - Create your best fictional story using no more than 100 words. Register here.
Screenplay - Write an original screenplay, no longer than 6 pages, one side, using traditional screenplay format that conveys our theme. Register here.
Memoir – Relate a personal episode from your life, no more than 500 words, that may have started out badly but ended on a positive note. Register here.
Dream – Recount an actual dream you have had, in 2020. You may fill in the missing details with how the dream made you feel, perceptions and narration. Maximum 300 words. Register here.
Short story – Fiction, no longer than 500 words. Must be an original, never published, short story, that portrays our theme in some way. Register here.
Poetry - Limit one poem per submission. All poetic forms and genres are acceptable. We do not accept translations. Poetry must be single-spaced and is limited to one page. Rhyming and non-rhyming poetry are accepted. Register here.
Essay - You may write about any topic of your choice. Maximum 500 words and should represent our theme. Register here.

Our judges determine the winners based on the following criteria:
• Is the entry original and creative?
• Does it represent the theme: Creative thinkers who highlight positivity through art, digital media and writing?
• Will the winning entry provide a positive reflection of bUneke.org?
• Each category has specific criteria to further assist the judges in their decisions.
SPECIFIC JUDGING CRITERIA FOR EACH CATEGORY
Our unbiased judges* use our established criteria for each category. This helps them make clear decisions about each entry so they can judge consistently and focus on each entry’s individual merits.
Judging criteria – rated 1 to 5, where 1 is interesting and 5 is excellent
1. Impact– Does the entry evoke an emotion from the viewer and will it make a strong social impact?
2. Creativity– Does this entry convey the theme in a unique and imaginative way?
3. Subject Matter– Did the entry tell a story that represents the theme?
4. Details – Did the creator pay attention to detail?
Additional Criteria for Individual Categories
Art Submissions – rated 1 to 5, where 1 is interesting and 5 is excellent
1. Is this entry visually appealing?
2. Was this entry well composed?
3. Was there overall clarity and quality?
Digital Media Submissions – rated 1 to 5, where 1 is interesting and 5 is excellent
1. Is the submission high quality?
2. Is the digital media appealing and entertaining?
3. Is the visual quality satisfactory*? Not applicable for audio-only submissions.
Writing Submissions – rated 1 to 5, where 1 is interesting and 5 is excellent
1. Does this entry show a skillful writing ability?
2. Does this entry display technical accuracy and good grammar?
3. Is editing and proofreading evident?

PEACECORE, Inc. started in 2018 with professionals who wanted to make a difference in the world. They created an educational charity and started doing business as bUneke Magazine. It sounds like “be unique” because we highlight exceptional people around the world who stand out and understand what must be done to create the changes they want. Within two years, bUneke had expanded to deliver elevated content, for all ages, in the form of a digital and print-on-demand magazine, webisodes, podcasts and documentaries.
